US Interstate 49 highway Map

Interstate 49, popularly abbreviated as I-49 is an Interstate Highway that is located in multiple segments with the original portion situated within the US state of Louisiana, four sections in Arkansas and a brand new section in Missouri.

It is interesting to note that the Interstate 29 hasn’t been named because of interstate naming rules but since the Interstate 35 and Interstate 45 highways, which are located to the west and Interstate 55, which is located towards the east, this highway got the name Interstate 49.

Extent of I-49 Highway

The southern terminus of Interstate 49 lies in Lafayette, Louisiana at the Interstate 20. On the other hand, the northern terminus of Interstate 49 lies in Kansas City, Missouri at the Interstate 435 and Interstate 470. Additionally, portion of the remaining highway are located in Missouri, Arkansas and Texas, which further link Kansas City with New Orleans and are still under separate stages of planning or construction.
