Maryland Institute of Art boasts of such alumni as sculptor Jeff Koons, painter Jason Dodge, morris Louis and David Byrne. Maryland Institute of Art is the hub of creative people from the entire area of Baltimore. The college is quite reputed for hosting good slide shows, musical performances and public exhibitions. The Maryland Institute of Art also experiences a very artistic ambiance being located amidst the lyric Opera House, the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, the Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore museum of Art. In July, each year the college plays host to a huge 3 day celebration of visual and performing arts where concerts are held along with readings of literary articles and craft sales are also encouraged.
Recently, the college has increased housing facilities to lodge more and more aspiring artists and to suit their pursuit, the lodgings have a cutting edge design to them which enables a student to pursue art full-time. Students of this art college are also given the opportunity to pursue other educational courses in some other nearby colleges.
The annual Halloween party that is held in the college premises is the best opportunity to view the creative capability of the students who pursue fine arts here. At this occasion the true creative geniuses among the students come to the forefront.
