Sheikh Zayed Stadium is one of the most modern stadiums in Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates. The stadium derived its name after the President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It was built at a cost of $22 million and is one of the finest cricket grounds of the world. The Stadium is situated in the suburbs of the city which is nearly 30 minutes drive from the city center.
The Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi was established in the year 2004. The stadium can accommodate 20,000 people. The stadium was inaugurated in May 2004. The first cricket match was played in this stadium between Scotland and Kenya in the Intercontinental Cup in November 2004.
The stadium is equipped with all types of facilities. It has two large stands at the two ends, with well maintained pitches and grounds. There is a huge area for the spectators to sit, but during the daytime it is less appealing as there it is not covered. There is no open pavilion for the player, but the large changing rooms of Sheikh Zayed Stadium which is under one of the stands is used by the team members for this purpose. These rooms are air-conditioned glass rooms.
