The Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium was built in the year 1980s. It is one of the United Arab Emirates stadiums and can accommodate 12,000people. However it is constantly being renovated and today the stadium can accommodate about 27,000 viewers. Besides cricket, other United Arab Emirates sports are also held in this stadium.
The Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium falls within the Emirate of Sharjah and is very familiar among the nationals and foreigners for the various cricket tournaments held round the year. The ground hosted 198 ODIs and 4 tests between the years 1984 to 2003 thus fetching a good crowd. The ground also hosted the Masters events and other second string tournaments. All these tournaments were played under the auspices of the Cricketers Benefit Fund Services. The organization was founded by Abdul Rahman Bukhatir in the year 1981.
The Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium is planned in such a way that the sports lovers can be close to the pitch in order to enjoy the sport.
