The citizens of United Arab Emirates enjoy United Arab Emirates Holidays, which are distributed throughout the year. The holidays of United Arab Emirates comprises of public as well as local holidays.
Holidays are given on major festivals and occasions of United Arab Emirates. Most of the Muslim festivals are celebrated according to the local sightings of the phases of the moon. As a result holidays are also fixed according to such changes. In the lunar month of the Ramadan before Eid ul fitr ,the Muslims fast throughout the day and feast at night. The restaurants are kept closed throughout the day.
I st January is celebrated as the new year and is a public holiday in United Arab Emirates . In the month of January the citizens enjoy Mouloud,which is the birth date of the prophet. Leilat ai Meiraj is celebrated in March .Eid is the main festival of the Muslims and celebrated with great pomp and show in the month of October. 2nd December is celebrated as the National Day. The people of Unite Arab Emirates enjoy the holiday of Al Hijira ,which is the Islamic New Year in December. Schools offices and important government buildings are closed on these holidays in United Arab Emirates.
