Chemical Fertilizer Industry


The chemical fertilizer industry of United Arab Emirates is significant for contributing to the economy of the Federation. The growth of chemical fertilizer industry of UAE started with the foundation of the ADNOC or Abu Dhabi National Oil Company of Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (FERTIL). On a daily basis it has a capacity of 1,500 metric tones of urea and 1,050 metric tones of ammonia.

The complex of ADNOC is located in the industrial zone of Ruwais in the western part of Abu Dhabi. It is composed of a production unit and packing, storage and cargo units.

The chemical fertilizer plant of Abu Dhabi Fertilizer Industries was established in June 1998 as a joint venture between SQM of Chile and I TTC or International Technical Trading Company based in the UAE. The former had a 36% stake, while the latter had a stake of 64 %. Every year it produces 40,000 tones of fertilizer, which mostly include granular compound and water soluble products. The company also produces suspension and liquid fertilizers and has capacity of 200,000 tones, in a year.

Many fertilizer manufacturing projects of the United Arab Emirates are situated in Jebel Ali Free Zone. Some of the important chemical fertilizers industries of UAE are Abu Dhabi Fertilizer Industries Co. W.L.L or ADFERT, Al Khazna Chemical fertilizer, Abu Dhabi and Southern Fertilizer and Chemical, Jebel Ali.

The chemical fertilizer industry of United Arab Emirates is extremely modern and is instrumental in developing the economy of the Federation.
