Cement Industry of United Arab Emirates is on its way to development and the government has taken strong initiatives for its betterment. Earlier the non oil industries were not very developed and had very less percentage in the GDP.
Presently there are nine cement factories in United Arab Emirates and they produce 8.5 million tons of cement every year. The local demand for cement in United Arab Emirates was two million in 1986.In 2006 nearly 14.4 tonnes of cement was consumed in the country. The consumption was far more than what the country produced.
Hence the price of cement has shot up. This is a serious concern for the construction and manufacturing industries of United Arab Emirates. But this has proved beneficial for the northern Emirates cement producers. The cement production of the total northern Emirates producers accounted for 9.26 metric tonnes in 2004.This was nearly eighty percent of the total cement production of the United Arab Emirates.
The emirate of Ras Al Khamah is the largest cement producer in United Arab Emirates. Union cement,RAK cement and Hazar cement are the most important cement producers of United Arab Emirates. These producers are making their most from the high quality limestone available in the Hazar mountains.
