Uganda transport means are mainly the surface transportation system of the country. There are railways, bus services and also airlines as an important part of the transportation system of this East African country. Railways and bus services are the major Uganda transportation system. Railways run through a number of cities providing a good transport to the people of this country. But buses on the other hand are available for the people living and also willing to visit more interior part of the country.
In Uganda the total length of the railway track is 1,241 km. Uganda has railway connection with some neighboring countries also. Like, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and some other. Uganda railways run through a number of cities like, Bungoma, Tororo, Kampala, Kasese and some other cities. The railway transport of Uganda in under the supervision of Uganda Railways Corporation. There are a number of railway projects that are proposed to make improvement in the rail transport of this country. Like, there is a proposal to make railway tracks to connect the west part of Uganda with the rest.
Uganda has the bus and cab services that play a major role in the transport of this country. There are bus services that are available from the capital city of Kampala. The public buses are relatively cheaper than the minibuses. A public bus here can carry seventy person at one time and a minibus has only twenty seats. Public bus and minibuses are the most effective transport services that provide transport even in the interior part of Uganda where no other transport is available.
