The Entebbe Wildlife Education Center is located in Entebbe, Uganda. It is a site for nature conservation, and it houses many natural specimens. These include a variety of species of plants and animals. The Entebbe Wildlife Education Center also has a Medicinal Garden, which has a number of species of medicinal plants which can be used to cure ailments.
The Entebbe Wildlife Education Center was founded in the year 1952 by the British colonial government, and started off as an orphanage for destitute animals. Its main function was to provide refuge to abandoned animals, mainly cubs who had lost their parents due to accidental deaths or illegal poaching.
During the early 1960's, the Entebbe Wildlife Education Center became a zoo, and started keeping more animals for attracting visitors. Due to the constant political turmoil in the country, the condition of the Entebbe Wildlife Education Center worsened until the New York Zoological Society came forward with a proposal to turn it into a nature conservation and education facility, which it currently is.
The Entebbe Wildlife Education Center has plenty of exotic exhibits, including lions, hyenas, rhinos, and buffaloes. There are a variety of different trees, which are home to some exotic bird species. Visitors learn about nature conservation during the visit to the Entebbe Wildlife Education Center. Also, the Entebbe Wildlife Education Center has a Medicinal Garden, which houses over 500 varieties of medicinal plants, which are useful in curing a number of ailments.
