Broadcasting Corporation Uganda or Uganda Broadcasting Corporation is one of the leading television channels of Uganda. Previously it was called Uganda Television or UTV. Today not only the name has been changed to Broadcasting Corporation Uganda, it has undergone rapid growth and development and presently is the national broadcast station of Uganda.
The Broadcasting Corporation Uganda came into existence as a result of the "Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act, 2004". The television license fee was used to fund the UBC. President Yoweri had annulled the collection of license fee. But UBC is pressurizing the government to reinstall the license fee in order to maintain the independent functioning of UBC. Uganda Broadcasting Corporation runs the UBC TV channel and 5 radio stations.
Uganda Broadcasting Corporation has a wide coverage. With a host of television programs that range from entertainment to news, UBCTV is apt for an audience of any age. The main aim of the Broadcasting Corporation of Uganda has been to entertain people along with providing information and news thus giving its local viewers a variety of programs which are entertaining as well as informative.
