Uganda AIDS has resulted in many deaths of people in Uganda. AIDS, the dreaded disease, is one of the chief concerns of Ugandan health ministry.
In the year 2005 the number of people affected by AIDS in Uganda was 1,000,000. At the end of 2005 the rate of adults affected by HIV/AIDS in Uganda between the age group of 15 to 49 was 6.7 %. The approximated number of women between the age group of 15 to 49 living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda by the end of 2005 was 520,000. During the year 2005 the approximated number of deaths in Uganda due to HIV/AIDS was 91,000. Approximately 1,000,000 children in Uganda lost their parents due to HIV/AIDS.
At Uganda UNICEF and its collaborators are rewarding HIV/AIDS intercessions with the Government, the private sector and NGOs.
In the year 1990 the AIDS Information Center was first established in Uganda for catering voluntary guidance and examining for HIV/AIDS.
During the 80s and early 90s Uganda underwent a heavy rate of HIV/AIDS transmission which produced an urgent demand of the Uganda people for knowing their HIV/AIDS position.
In the year 1993, 31 % was the rate of HIV transmission among the pregnant women in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda and in the year 1998 the rate of HIV transmission dropped to 13 % among the pregnant women in Kampala.
During the year 1992 the Uganda AIDS Commision was set up. To heighten the activities of HIV/AIDS all throughout Uganda is the mission of Uganda AIDS Commission.
