Uganda War

Uganda has seen some of the most brutally violent wars in the history of time. In the political history of Uganda, wars have always been a prominent part. Be it during the regime of Idi Amin, the civil wars against the governments of Obote and Okello, wars with other countries like Tanzania, or the ongoing wars between the government and the Lord's Resistance Army concerning their brutality towards the Acholi tribe, in Uganda, war has always been an important event.

During the regime of Idi Amin, Uganda had a brutal war with Tanzania. Ousted former president Milton Obote found refuge in Tanzania, and started gathering an army of rebels, who, like Obote, were refugees who had fled to Tanzania. Amin tried to invade Tanzania, but was impeded by a small rebellion in his own army. This led to a brutal war, which effectively ended the reign of Idi Amin.

After the war with Tanzania, Obote came back to power, and this set off another war. The Bush War or the Uganda civil war had the forces of the National Resistance Army, led by current President Yoweri Museveni, battled to overthrow the Obote government. The war against Obote and General Tito Okello, finally led to their defeat and the coming to power of Museveni.

Another Uganda war which is still going on is the one offset by the brutal attack of the Lord's Resistance Army on the Acholi tribe. Their favored mode of operation is to abduct Acholi children and train them as child soldiers. Their has been strong resistance from the present government, and also international intervention. This war is still going on in Uganda.
