Uganda is a country which believes in the forging and maintenance of cordial and friendly international relations. Also, there are many nationals of Uganda who are residing in foreign countries. To ensure the maintenance of good international relations and to protect the interests of Uganda nationals residing in foreign countries, Uganda has set up an Uganda Consulate in major countries of the world.
An Uganda Consulate protects the interests of a national of Uganda who is currently residing in the host country. It acts as a source of information for people who are interested in knowing more about Uganda, in particular prospective tourists and travelers. Ministers of the Uganda Consulate carry out frequent interaction with the high officials of the host country to ensure a relationship which is mutually beneficial.
An Uganda Consulates also provides consular services like the legalization and authorization of documents, the granting of citizenship and residing rights to people who are interested in permanently moving to Uganda, and translation services to people.
In various countries, these services are provided by embassies and high commissions. However, in some countries, the Consulate of Uganda carries out these duties. Uganda consulates are located in countries like Germany, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Australia, Austria and China.
