Uganda Animal has a rich variety. Most of the forests are the home to the different species. There are national parks to reserve the wild life. However lions and leopards are not found in the animal preserves and national parks. Mountain gorillas and chimpanzee are to be seen rarely.
Animals of Uganda includes elephant, rhinoceros, giraffe, lion, tiger, barbel buffalo, hippopotamus, cob, topi and monkeys. Uganda is the only place where 6 mammal species are found. This is among the very few countries where zebras, black rhinoceros and roan antelopes live. In the northeastern areas other kind of antelopes like oryx, greater and lesser kudu and grant's gazelle are to be noticed.
In case of birds Uganda is no less important. Birds which can be seen are bulbul, kite, fish eagle, kingfisher, marabou stork, lily trotter, darter, hoopoe, bee-eater, dove, pigeon, hornbill, lourie, mouse bird, guinea fowl, ibis, egret, heron, shrike, crow, weaver and crowded crane.
Animal in Uganda have got a number of fishes as well. Tilapia, Nile perch, catfish, lungfish, elephant snout fish and other species can be found in the rivers. In many areas along the Nile between the Kabalega Falls and Lake Albert crocodiles are found too. A number of species of snakes are also there but dangerous varieties are rare.
Uganda Animal are suffering a lot currently because of deforestation. Hunting has also become a threat to the endangered species. Therefore Uganda government is trying to preserve the wildlife of this country.
