Uganda Trade is a fast developing section of
Uganda Economy. The growth and development of Uganda Trade is the result of the interest of the Uganda Government which has been supported by the other countries of the world and organizations of international level.
The initial stages of
Uganda Trade were marked by problems in the infrastructure and other sectors but with time it has gained an impetus and is on a gradual rise. The
export of Uganda is estimated at $961.7 million F.O.B. and the
import of Uganda stands at about $1.945 billion F.O.B.
Uganda Trade in the export section is carried out with countries like Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Rwanda and Sudan. The chief export items of Uganda are coffee, tea, fish and fish products, cut flowers, cotton, tobacco, gold, etc. The export of
Uganda Trade brings in profits for the betterment of Uganda Economy.
The import of Uganda is carried out with the countries of Kenya, UAE, China, India, South Africa and Japan. The main items of import from these countries are capital equipments, vehicles, petroleum, medical supplies and cereals. The
import of Uganda are the chief cause of expenditure of the country.
The economy and
trade of Uganda is mostly dependent on the agricultural produce of the country. The major part of the Ugandan population is involved in the
occupation of agriculture. The produce of the year is sold both in domestic and foreign markets.
Uganda Trade is improving each day. The mineral industry also produces items of export.
