Uganda Export is one of the chief factors that boosts Uganda economy. The Uganda Export forms an integral part of the economic infrastructure of the country and it is given much importance by the government of Uganda as well. The main items of Uganda export comes from the agricultural produce of the country.
The estimated export from Uganda is $961.7 million F.O.B. The export sector of Uganda is one of the major profit making sectors of Uganda economy. The active endeavor of the government of Uganda for the betterment of this sector has been aided by the foreign countries organizations of international repute.
The traditional export items of Uganda are coffee, tea, cotton and tobacco. These items were parts of Uganda Export from quite an earlier period of time. The list of export items of Uganda which have acquired importance in the recent past constitute the non-traditional ones exported by Uganda.
Agricultural products- These include both organic and non-organic crops. The list is quite exhaustive. Fruits, vegetables, spices, cut flowers, oilseeds, cereals and pulses and essential oils feature in this category. Manufactured or Processed products-These include processed foods, drinks and tobacco,textiles, clothing and footwear, paper products, chemicals and chemical products, pharmaceuticals, building materials, wood, metal products and others.
Minerals-The main items of Uganda Export in this sector are gold, tungsten, wolfram ores, cobalt cathodes, etc.
Handicrafts and Jewelery products-These also form a part of Uganda Export.
The countries to which the export of items from Uganda is carried out are Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Rwanda and Sudan.
