Bank of Uganda is the central bank of this country. This bank regulates and administers all the currency related issues of this East African country. The Bank of Uganda was established in this country in the year 1966. In this same year Uganda's own currency also came into use. Currently all monetary issues are handled by this central bank of Uganda.
The Bank of Uganda has a number of services for the people of Uganda. Some of these services that are provided by the Bank of Uganda are, providing security for banknotes, return of damaged notes and currencies, changing denominations and many other important bank services. Bank of Uganda also has a museum, where interested people can collect all the informations regarding the background and history of this Bank of Uganda.
The Bank of Uganda was established under the bank act of 1966, article162(2) which was later amened in the year 1995. Some other laws that gave this bank the authority to operate in this country are, Bank of Uganda Act 1966, The Intervention Policy by government of Uganda and some others. Though this bank is the central bank of this country and is entirely ad ministered by the Uganda government, yet this is not a governmental organization. This bank handles all its activities by the themselves only.
As the central bank of Uganda, The Bank of Uganda has some important vision and mission also for leading the country ahead in the economic sector. Their mission is to keep control over the price bring a stable situation and also to create a stable financial and economic condition for the country.
