Uganda children have suffered a lot of mishaps after the devastative civil wars of the 1970s and 1980s. Although the impact of the war has shattered the human life but the children were the most miserable one. Preventive steps are taken to improve the conditions of Uganda children, to improve the economic and social developments, yet the children of Uganda are fighting against HIV, AIDS and Malnutrition. The epidemic has made 2.1 million children orphan at the age group between 6 to 16 years and they are still lacking proper food and shelter. Seventy five percent of the Uganda children die due to premature death and that includes both the prenatal and the maternal illness.
Major areas of concern about the children in Uganda are health, education facilities, food securities, and economic opportunities for orphans, future plan and also the response in emergency. Health is a prime concerned matter to save the children and both the mental and physical health should be take care for the well being of Uganda children. Growth Monitoring Program (GMP) is a community which has been set up to provide supplementary feeding program and weight regain processes for the Uganda children and check the total hygiene related factors. Numerous youth clubs and training program have started in the Uganda villages to give moral support to the HIV/AIDS stricken youths and the orphans.
Children of Uganda are devoid of primary school education even and it's due to the lack of funds and other resources. CHANCE is a community based educational project and it has came to the forefront to impart non-formal school training to the children and it is serving about 5,000 children and mainly the poorer section are taught. Adult classes are also taken to improve the literacy rate and teaching them the skills to lead their daily life more properly. Food Security is also given to the children who lacks family and certain economic opportunities program are imparted mainly for the HIV/AIDS affected families. These programs also teach them how to cope such problems and related skill to prevent HIV/AIDS.
Other than the above mentioned projects, several program both government and non-government is in the process to improve the life of Uganda Children as well as the Uganda People.
