Turkey Bosphorus is the strait which joins the Black sea with the Sea of Marmara. It is 32km long and 730-3300m wide and 30-120m deep. The name is derived from a Tracian word of unknown origin. The Greek meaning is “Ford of the Cow”.
Turkey Bosphorus is known as Bogazici in Turkey. It separates Asia from Europe. At the end of the Tertiary period this former river valley was drowned by the sea. One can find a number of ships and oil tankers in this busy strait. Local fishing and passenger boats are often found.

Turkey Bosphorus. One is the Bogazici Bridge 1074m long and 165m high, between Beylerbeyi and Ortakoy. It was opened in 1973. The other one is Faith Sultan Mehmet between Anadolu Hisari and Rumeli Hisari. Opened in 1988, this bridge in 1090m long and 65m high.
