Turkish Sweets



Turkish sweets are intertwined with Turkish festivals and Turkish society. The Ramazan festival also called "Seker Bayrami" points to the delicious desserts. Halvah, a sweet, is associated with major celebrations in the society as birth, return from pilgrimage, and even as praying for rain.

Turkish sweets:

Fruits mainly contribute to the list of Turkish sweet. Some mouthwatering combinations would includes:

  • quince marmalade made of sour cherry
  • the rose preserve of rose petals But the "muhallebi" makes for the casual daily dessert with its common ingredients such as starch, rice flour, eggs and butter and lemon juice.

    Turkish Desserts with Milk:

    Keskul is made of coconut milk; Tavukgogsu and Kaza dibi are two other kinds of sweets of Turkey. Gullac is served with milk and rosewater.

    Turkish Pastry-based desserts are equally famous and known for variety consisting of the

    "Yogurt tatlisi" made with yogurt
    "Revani" made from semolina
    "Badem tatlisi" made with almonds

    But Baklava and Turkish Delight form the center of attraction. Baklava is known for its multi layered, thin sheets of Yaprak dough. And Turkish Delight is called an addictive confectionary for its flavor.
