Turkish culture is about their unique food, people, dance, music, and clothing. Turkish culture is one of the most beautiful cultures in the world.


 

Turkish Food

Turkey is famous for its cuisines. Its rich and abundant store of flora and fauna and the combination of different cultures such as the Mediterranean and the Chinese have contributed to the varied cuisines in Turkey. The constant modifications in the usual dishes also, call for its diversity.

The Turkish State of Anatolia is quite old and therefore displays a variety of cuisines. Apart from the flora and fauna, the control over the Spice Route and the urge in the previous generations to learn new recipes which can still be witnessed are the sole reason for the delicious Turkish food. The different proverbs also substantiate this fact. One such proverb is “eat sweet and speak sweet”. Turkey specializes in varied dishes such as bread items, meze dishes, grilled meat, and varied desserts.

Turkish People

Turkish people are those people mainly, who belong to the country of Turkey. But in today’s world, the Turkish people can be found all over the world in several other countries than only in Turkey. There are several traits and features that characterize the Turkish people. Among these several distinctive traits of the Turkish people, there are their rich cultural heritages, their distinctive language, and many other traits and features.

Turkish people have very rich cultural heritages that are evident in the fields of music, dance, and other performing and non-performing arts. The reasons behind the rich culture of the Turkish people are the influences of several empires. Turkish culture is painted heavily with many folded influences from the Ottoman Empire. There is lots of evidence in the culture of Turkish people that their culture has taken many aspects from European cultures as well. As a result, the cultural heritage of the Turkish people is an exciting blend of modernism with traditional Turkish life.

Turkish Art

Turkish art is a combination of various forms of Turkish culture. Because an art form generally refers to various other forms and fields of artwork as well. As a result, Turkish art refers to Turkish paintings, architecture, music, dances, literature, and many other forms of art. Turkish art tradition has richness in itself. This richness and heritages of Turkish art have come from the influences of several empires and other cultures that have come closer to Turkish civilization and society.

Turkish Dance

Turkish dance is a very important and inseparable part of the rich heritage of Turkish culture. There are several forms of Turkish dance that are extremely popular among the people in Turkey. Turkish dances have created such an interest among people that some Turkish dance forms have won immense popularity in several countries around the world.

Turkish dance is of several types as there are several tribes among the Turkish people who have their particular culture and dance forms. Some of the famous Turkish dance forms are, Halay, Karsilama, Hora, Zeybek, the belly dance, and many other forms of dance. Halay is the national dance of Turkey. It originated from the empire of Assyrian. In this dance form, the dancers form a circle holding each other by hand or shoulder and the first and the last dancer hold a piece of cloth. This dance is accompanied by traditional musical instruments.

Turkish Music

Turkish music has a rich history and tradition of its own. Turkish music originated back in the 11th century at a time when the Seljuk Turks spanned their kingdom by including both Anatolia and Persia. As a result in Turkish music, there are influences from both these two regions and kingdoms. Turkish music can be divided into several periods and music groups. But essentially, Turkish music can be divided into two groups. These two groups are classical Turkish music and folk music.

Classical Turkish music is actually Ottoman music that is associated with the higher society. This classical music has been developed through centuries together and has several branches in it. Turkish classical, music has two main branches Harem music which evolved with the particular form of dance known as belly dancing. There is another form of Turkish classical music, military music. This has also typical Turkish quality in it. Turkish classical music is always accompanied by classical musical instruments like tanbur, ney, kanun, and some others.

Turkish Bath

The Turkish bath is a very popular attraction in Turkey. This is actually a kind of spa or sauna in Turkey. The name by which Turkish bath is generally known as ‘Hamman’. This term has several meanings. The root of this term in the Arabic language means heat. But generally, Hamman means bathroom or toilet.

Turkish baths or Hamman are very popular in this country and fetch a number of visitors also. The Turkish bath is an important part of Turkish culture for a long since it has been a place of many important social gatherings and activities.

Turkish Clothing

Turkish clothing is an important part of their rich culture. Like the Turkish culture which has become rich being influenced by several empires and their own set of practices, Turkish clothing has also a very rich and variegated tradition of its own. Apart from the natural difference between men’s and women’s clothing, there are several other differences in Turkish clothing which depend on several occasions.

Turkey Entertainment

Turkey is a place throbbing with life. There is a variety of entertainment to be found in Turkey.
Turkey is a place rich in culture and various forms of entertainment. There is an assortment of clubs, bars, and inns in Turkey, along with many cultural events and pastimes. It is a great place to be for tourists and local residents alike. The cultural events that happen in Turkey, including spectacular dances, speak a lot about rich culture and heritage.

Turkish Language

The Turkish Language is mainly used in Turkey. Around 65-73 million people speak this language all over the world. Some of the Cyprus, Greece, and European people speak in this language. The root of the language lies in Central Asia. The date of the first written records can be traced back to 1,200 years.

The Turkish Language is influenced by Ottoman Turkish which is now replaced with a phonetic variant of the Latin alphabet. Recently Turkish Language Association has decided to remove Persian and Arabic words to facilitate the native variants.

International Istanbul Festival

International Istanbul Festival is one of the major festivals in Turkey. It takes place in Istanbul, the most important city in Turkey. This colorful festival is full of life. Dance, song, and music make the festival awesome. To get the cultural essence people should visit Turkey during this festival.

International Istanbul Festival includes diverse annual arts festivals. The International Istanbul Music Festival is held at Hagia Eirene Museum and Ataturk Cultural Center. The classical or traditional music concert is held inside the 4th-century St. Irene’s Church which was made by Emperor Constantine.

Izmir International Festival

Izmir International Festival is organized by Izmir Culture, Art and Education Foundation. People believe that this will make an important contribution to Izmir’s candidacy for the EXPO 2015. Izmir International Festival 2007 is the 21st Festival. Maurice Bejart and Robin Gibb were among the guests.
