Tunisia Culture is full of diversity. The country has witnessed the passage of several civilizations for over 3000 years. The ideal climatic condition and the long quiet coastline have attracted invaders to come and settle down in this place. Tunisia had been ruled by the Romans, Byzantines, Spanish, French, Turks, Vandals and Phoenicians. Thus the Tunisia Culture consists of the influences of these civilizations.

Tunisia Religion

99% of the total population of Tunisia is of Islamic religion. They are huge believer of their religion. The "Zeitouna Mosque", one of the four holy Islamic places is situated in the city of Kairouan. Hundreds of mosques are located all over the country. There are several internationally recognized institutions for religious learning. A small minority of Christian and Jews resides in Tunisia.

Food in Tunisia

Food is an integrated part of Tunisia Culture. The unique Tunisian cuisine is a combination of Mediterranean and Middle East flavor. Tunisia snacks are very popular among the tourists as well as the natives. A wide variety of sea foods are served in all the restaurants. Chorba, Mloukhia and Koucha are very popular main course items of Tunisia.

The standard and official language of Tunisia is Arabic. There were some 8 colloquial languages that were spoken by the natives among which 2 have extinct.

The people of Tunisia are very lively. Several festivals and cultural activities take place throughout the year.
