Zarzis is located at 33°34'N and 11°04'E on the south eastern corner of Tunisia. It has grown from a small coastal town on the Mediterranean near Djerba into the 2nd major tourist region in the area.
Reaching Zarzis
The easy access of Zarzis is available from from the airport of Tunis which pretty close to it. Zarzis is also situated near to El Kantara in Djerba from which MC 117 runs to the town of Zarzis.
Sightseeing at Zarzis
The oasis of Zarzis, south east of Djerba, which is a part of the Akkara peninsula, is basically a port of pivotal importance in Tunisian history. The strategic importance of the port had been realized early by the Arabs, Phoenician, and Romans. Old markets, forts, excavations and mosques feature heavily in Zarzis attraction lists. Day tours to nearby sub Saharan towns are also organized daily.
