Located on the Mediterranean coast of Northern Africa, Tunisia is the smallest country in the Atlas mountain area. The Sahara desert makes more than 40 % of the country and little bit fertile land is available in the coastal areas.
Tunisia History
Earlier Tunisia was an important division of the Carthaginian Empire. Carthage was its main city and it was discovered by the Phoenician traders. Carthage became popular for Phoenician settlements. Later Carthaginian was changed into "Africa Vetus" province which became a prominent Roman territory. The region became famous for its wheat, olive oil, wool and wood.
Tunisia Climate
Tunisia experiences a Mediterranean climate in the north .The summers are hot and dry and winters are cold and wet. The South of Tunisia experiences very hot and humid weather. Rainfall is scanty and droughts are a common feature. Sirocco winds which are very hot winds are common and they make the life at Tunisia uncomfortable.
Tunisia Culture and People
Tunisians refer themselves as Arabs and mostly Arabs, Romans and Vandals have live here since ages. In Tunisia Arabic is the focal language. French is spoken the media sector, business enterprises and administration departments.
Mineral resources are the main industry in this region as agricultural land is very less. Tourism has also grown due to its wonderful beaches.
Though small this country has its own beauty and charm.
