Trinidad and Tobago People are an amalgamation of different communities. The
people of Trinidad and Tobago primarily comprise the 'Blacks' who make up 39.59% of the population, and East Indians who form 40.27% of the populace. The remaining comprises Whites, Chinese, and Mixed.
Languages Spoken & Religion
English is the official
language of Trinidad and Tobago. The other languages spoken include Hindi, Bhojpuri, Urdu, Arabic, Yoruba, French based Creole, and Spanish.
As per 1990 census 29% of the total population were Roman Catholic. Majority of the East Indians are Hindus, though many are Christians. Other faiths include Evangelical Christians, Spiritual Baptists, American Muslims, Rastafarians, Afro-Christians and African Orisha. The official religious holidays are:
