Englishcher Garten

The Englishcher Garten in English means the English Garden, so named to signify the unique style of developing gardens, employed by the English. The garden is the second largest City Park in Europe. It covers a total land area of 3.7 square kilometers.
This is a 18th century park, built by Benjamin Thompson, the count of Rumford. It isn't just the size that makes the park so special, but the also the many features which makes it a rather interesting place to hang out.

Significant additions to the activities in the park accounts for the popularity of the Englishcher Garten, Munich. The immediate attraction of the park post the 1960s was the scope for nude bathing that it provided to visitors. This nude sunbathing area lies between the Japanese Tea House and the Monopetros. At the Japanese tea house a Japaneses tea festival is held each year. This was started in 1972 to celebrate the Summer Olympics.

Another very interesting place of the Englishcher Garten Scholls, Munich is the Monopteros. This is a Greek style temple built in 1832. It was designed by Leo Vonz Klenze and the artificial hill on which it was built was made with left overs from the Munich Royal Residence.
