Location
The town of Byron Bay is located at the north-eastern coast of Australia, in the state of New South Wales (NSW). The town is at a distance of about 103 miles to the south of Brisbane city and about 480 miles to the north of Sydney. Byron Bay is about 56 miles from the Gold Coast and is in the Northern Rivers region.

Best Time To Visit
Byron Bay is an eclectic region which receives visitors all through the year. The food and entertainment scene is feisty through all seasons. Byron Bay receives good sunshine throughout the year. The subtropical summers are hot and humid and winters mild and sunny. Summer visits are ideal for those who like to get on with some snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, or swimming. Getting To Byron Bay
Byron Bay is served by three airports - the Balina/Byron Bay Gateway Airport, the Gold Coast International Airport, and the Brisbane International & Domestic Airport. From the Balina/Byron Bay Gateway Airport a number of Virgin Blue, Jetstar and Regional Express buses get you to Byron Bay within 40 minutes. Though there are no trains connecting Byron Bay, daily coaches by Countrylink connect the beach region with the rest of the country. Cars can be rented from Brisbane to get you to Byron Bay and the drive is a pleasant one.

Whale Watching: Byron Bay is one of the most famous whale watching locations in the world. From June to August, thousands of tourists gather here to watch the humpback whales pass Byron Bay on their annual migration from Antarctica to the Great Barrier Reef for breeding. If you visit Byron Bay between August and November, you can watch these humpback whales return to Antarctica with their newborn calves.

Dolphin Wildlife Tours: You can watch the Bottle-nose Dolphins cruise past you in the pristine waters of Byron Bay. Very often you will find the Common Dolphins, inquisitive by nature, approach your boats, in trying to communicate with you. You can also find turtles, sting rays, and thousands of species of fishes that inhabit in the Sanctuary Zone.

Crystal Castle: Visit the Crystal Castle to "Enrich your Spirit". You can feel the awe inspiring presence of the Buddha while walking through the ancient maze. The path is interspersed with gardens and is lined by rose quartz and hand carved mystical statues of the Buddha. The Crystal Castle offers you a breathtaking, tranquil, and inspirational landscape that is seldom paralleled elsewhere.

Byron Bay Ballooning: Looking down at the endless stretch of Byron Bay's beautiful beach stretching right up to Mount Warning and beyond while breathing fresh mountain air is an out of the world experience. The total balloon flying time is approximately one hour. If you are lucky you can view the rainbow from the air.

Sky Diving: For the most adventurous visitors, sky diving is the ultimate experience. What can be better than to click pictures of the amazing landscape of Byron Bay, freefalling from a height of 14,000 feet! The exhilaration of the freefall is followed by the tranquil calm of gliding down in a parachute, all the while taking in the awesome scenery below. You can also take helicopter tours or fly around in a privately rented aircraft.
