Wat Mahathat

Wat Mahathat is an ancient temple in Bangkok. The temple of Wat Mahathat was constructed during 18th century. This temple is a tourist attraction in Bangkok. This temple is famous as monastic learning is catered to the members of Mahanikai school of Buddhism.

Tourists may visit this temple while they are on Bangkok tour. Followers of Buddhism visit this religious center form different parts of South east Asia. The history of the temple can be dated back before the city of Bangkok was founded. It became renowned under Prince Mongkut, a monk in the temple, who came to be known as King Rama IV in Thailand in the later years.

Visitors after entering the temple complex of Wat Mahathat in Bangkok, will get to see monastic schools, monastic cells and some offices. Visitors are allowed to enter the temple complex every day from 9 am to 5 pm. They may require to donate a certain amount of money after visiting the temple.

Among the temples in Bangkok Wat Mahathat is one of the oldest temples. Here classes are regularly held in the morning, during afternoon and also in the evening. Tourists can come to this ancient temple to enjoy a peaceful ambiance.
