Amsterdam Canal Cruise

The Amsterdam Canal Cruise is one of the best ways of taking a quick and brief look around the city of Amsterdam, the capital of Netherlands. The Amsterdam canal was opened in the year 1952 and has four lock gates. The waterway connects river Waal and river Lek to the Amsterdam port. The Amsterdam Canal is the most used canal in the western part of Europe. Its total length of forty five kilometers is served by many a commercial and tourist cruises.

The regular Amsterdam cruises for the tourist usually last for about half an hour. There are large public boats for family touring and even boats for private hiring. These are called the ' Saloon Boats'. Some of the cruising boats are over a hundred years old but has been well maintained for public use. The grandeur of the boats coupled with special events that arranged provide for lucrative Amsterdam viewing. Candlelight dinners, special performances on board, Jazz and Pizza cruise are some of the special arrangements for the Amsterdam canal cruise.

The Canal Cruises in Amsterdam take off from different parts of the city. The popular places for take off are Anne Frank's House, the Heineken Brewery and the Leidseplein.
