Union Des Forces Du Changement or UFC Togo was built with the objective of setting up an independent, democratic nation that was to be founded on the principles of an ideal democratic nation. Recognized officially on February 1st, 1992, the UFC was a free body that comprised eight Togolese political parties. The UFC include PFC, UTR, FCDDT, MTD, DTA, UDS PDU and SDT parties. Being the free body that it is, UFC is not linked directly to any economics, political or racial groups inhabiting Togo. Dr Gilchrist S. Olympio was one of the most prominent presidents of this organization, Union Des Forces Du Changement or UFC Togo. He was a formerly an IMF Director who had specialized in Economics and finance.
Aim of Union Des Forces Du Changement
- To establish a Togolese government based on freedom of vote.
- Encourage freedom of Movement in all territories.
- Allow freedom of expression
- Promote the freedom of press
- Establish the right to education
- Promotion of equality among all.
- Promotion of women's rights.
Because of the sincere efforts put in by the Union Des Forces Du Changement members, the objectives have been materializing. The success has led to immense popularity and ready acceptance in most parts of Togolese Republic. The only exception is some parts o the northern frontiers of Togo.
