Recent government policies have made the participation of Togo women in police, businesses and institutions possible, although there are discrepancies still going on the rights of Togo Women.

The atrocities carried over on the women in the Francophone colonies of Togoland, have been portrayed even in the numerous women's poetry written during the war of independence. Love for the country as well as a sisterly love and sympathy for the fellow women sufferers have been vividly portrayed in these poems, creating a new genre of revolutionary poetry.
