In Timor Leste the most important source of information is the radio. Timor Leste Radio is in wide use all over the country and a high percentage of the people have access through their own radios. Another factor that has led to the development of Timor Leste Radio is the good receptivity that is provided by the radio stations. The RTTL is responsible for providing radio service to a wide area. Some areas do face problems as far as the receptivity is concerned.

The important radio stations in Timor Leste includes Radio Timor Leste, Radio Kmanek, Radio Falintil,Radio Renascenca. Radio Timor Leste provides its service by broadcasting in Portugese, Indonesian and Tetum. Besides, the Community Radio Stations are engaged in broadcasting in the regional languages like Tokadede and Fataluku.

Timor Leste Radio listening is not confined to the home and is also found at workplace. In fact hearing Timor Leste Radio is like an activity for some people which they pursue in groups. Also those with higher education were more into radio listening than those who are comparatively less educated. Radio listening is highest in places like Aileu, Ermera, and Liquisa. The main reason for the high concentration of radio listeners in these places is the fact that the receptivity here is good. Places like Cova Lima lautem have very few radio listeners.
