East Timor foreign relations have caught global attention in the international world after the 1975 when Indonesia occupied East Timor. The history of
East Timor shows a long Portuguese colonial period and for that in the earlier times
East Timor was also referred as the Portuguese Timor. Since 1975 the modern
East Timor was under Indonesian occupation but in 1997 it became a sovereign republic following Indonesia's staying, the UN act to give up East Timor occupation. All these events influence the foreign relation between East Timor and other state actor of the world.
