The East Timor Prime Minister is the head of East Timor government. He is also the leader of the council of ministers. The members of the political party with the majority number of votes in the national legislature choose the Prime Minister of East Timor who is then nominated by the president of East Timor. East Timor Prime Minister is the head of the cabinet ministry. The Prime Minister is answerable to the President for all his work and duties.

Jose Ramos Horta was appointed as the Prime Minister of East Timor on 26th of June 2006 and enjoyed the power till 19th May 2007. Jose Ramos Horta was an elected Prime Minister of East Timor.

Estanislau da Silva was appointed as the Prime Minister of East Timor on the 19th of May 2007 and is the acting Prime Minister of East Timor.
