The population of East Timur is around 1 million and almost 80% of people earn their bread and butter through agriculture. The climate of Timor Laste is semi dry that has its impact on the crops and vegetation. There are two weathers of Timor Laste which are wet and dry and do not form conducive conditions for growing of most of its crops. Yet people manage to cultivate crops with great effort. These crops are known as staple crops which are:

- Beans

East Timor Agriculture has coffee as its main cash crop that earns revenue for the country via export.
New varieties of crops have been introduced to the
East Timor Agriculture that have qualities of adaption of the local arid weather conditions. This has been introduced to increase the production in agriculture which is the backbone for the people's livelihood.
