East Timor Economy



Timor Leste located in South East Asia was known for its sandalwood from the very early times. The infrastructure of East Timor Economy faced a decline in 1999 by the Indonesian troops. This marked the time when the East Timor Economy suffered a severe blow. Following this efforts were made both by people within the country as well as by the United Nations to rebuild the East Timor Economy.

The economic development of any country is essential for the welfare of the people. With this in mind measures and programs have been undertaken by the government in Timor Leste to develop the economy. For the growth of the economy the government has also entered into plans with other countries like Australia. With Australia the Timor Leste government has entered into a combined development program for petroleum and natural gas. Besides, East Timor coffee industry is engaged in selling coffee through trade fairs and also through the open market.
