WESTERN XIZANG Earthquake Map
An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 on Richter Scale struck Western Xizang on August 25, 2008. Xizang is another name for Tibet and is part of Tibetan Plateau. The recent earthquake had its epicentre 228 km north-east of Jumla, 298 km north of Pokhara, 372 km north and northeast of Nepalganj and 392 km north and north west of Kathmandu (all places in Nepal). The geographical co-ordinates of the epicentre are found out to be 30.899 N and 83.623 E. No casualties or damages to man-made structures have been reported.
