It was on June 23, 1946 that the region's largest earthquake struck Vancouver Island. With a magnitude of 7.3 and the epicentre in the Forbidden Plateau area of central Vancouver Island, the historic earthquake had caused condisiderable damage to man-made structures and human lives in the Island.
