The epicenter of the quake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale, has been located at 460 km northwest of Santo (Luganville) in Vanuatu, 481 km southeast of Kira Kira, Solomon Islands, 721 km southeast of Honiara in Solomon Islands and 2090 km east of Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 had hit the region on 19th July this year
