According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the powerful earthquake was located approximately 25 miles from the coast. Tremors of the earthquake were felt as far away as Singapore. No reports of casualties or damages are available.
7.9 magnitude earthquake strikes Indonesia
Mar 2, 2016 - The US Geological Survey has reported that a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Western Indonesia at 19:49 local time (12:49 GMT). So far, there have been no reports of damage to life or property; however, authorities have issued tsunami warning for West Sumatra, Aceh and North Sumatra. The epicenter of the earthquake was 808km southwest of Padang city and it was 10 km deep.

According to media reports, the earthquake has a depth of 30km and was centered two miles east-southeast of Andekanter in Indonesia’s Sumba region. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Strong quake hits Papua, Indonesia; no tsunami alert
