5.9-magnitude tremor hits Afghanistan

According to the US Geological survey, 5.9-magnitude hit northern Afghanistan. The quake struck 22km southwest of Ashkasham, 300km northeast of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.As per media reports, the tremor occurred at 02:16 a.m. local time (1816 GMT) and was also felt in Pakistan and India’s capital, New Delhi. However, no reports of casualties or damages have been reported yet.
 

Earthquake causes havoc in Pakistan and Afghanistan
A 7.5 magnitude that hit Pakistan and Afghanistan on Monday has caused massive damage to life and property. According to media reports, at least 231 people have been killed in Pakistan. The National Disaster Management said around 1,632 are injured across the country. As per the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred on the Hindu Kush, located some 45 miles south of Faizabad. Tremors were felt as far as North India, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh.

Afghanistan

The earthquake claimed 82 lives in Afghanistan. The worst affected regions include – Nangarhar, Takhar, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Parwan, and Kunduz provinces.

 

Rescue efforts underway; toll rises to 310

Oct 27, 2015 (8.32 AM UTC) - Rescue efforts are currently underway and Pakistan has sent aircraft and rescuers to isolated valleys that have been devastated in the 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Pakistan and Afghanistan on Monday. According to media reports, the toll in the earthquake has risen to 311. Authorities have dispatched a C-130 transport plane to Chitral with rations, blankets and tents.

 

Rescue efforts stepped up; toll rises to 260

Oct 27, 2015 (1.05 AM UTC) - Authorities in Afghanistan and Pakistan have stepped up rescue efforts to help people who have been affected by the 7.5 magnitude earthquake that caused massive damages to life and property in the two countries. According to media reports, the earthquake has claimed 260 lives. Effects of the earthquake are still unclear in the mountainous regions; however, authorities have already sent rescue teams to aid people here. 

 

Death toll 180: Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan

Oct 26, 2015 (4.50 PM UTC) - As per latest reports, the death toll in the devastating earthquake that struck Afghanistan and Pakistan has climbed to 180.  Of these, 147 deaths have been reported in Pakistan, while 33 have died in Afghanistan. Media reports quoted a police officer in Badakhshan in Afghanistan as saying that many houses were destroyed in the rural districts. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif would be cutting short his visit to London and would be returning to Pakistan. 

 

Over 1000 people injured in the earthquake

Oct 26, 2015 (4.13 PM, UTC) - As per latest reports, around 160 people have been killed and more than 1000 injured in the devastating earthquake that struck Afghanistan and Pakistan today.  The earthquake caused widespread devastation with several homes destroyed. 

 

Death toll crosses 100

Oct 26, 2015 (3.25 PM, UTC) - The death in the powerful earthquake that rocked Afghanistan and Pakistan has risen to 130. The 7.5 magnitude earthquake sent shock waves as far as North India.  According the media reports, the communication is down in the Hindu Kush area, the epicenter of the earthquake and the coming days would see a rise in the death toll.

 

12 schoolgirls killed in stampede

The 7.5 magnitude earthquake that hit Afghanistan and Pakistan has caused massive destruction. An orange alert on the earthquake has been issued by the USGS. As per media reports, 12 schoolgirls aged 10 to 15 years were crushed in a stampede as they tried to exit their school building.

 

Death toll climbs to 29

At least 10 people have been killed in the 7.5 magnitude earthquake that rocked Pakistan and Afghanistan. According to media reports, the earthquake left over 150 people injured. Massive tremors were also reported in North India.  The earthquake’s epicenter was in the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan, said the US Geological Survey.
 

7.5 magnitude earthquake hits South Asia

A powerful earthquake has shaken the south Asian regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As per media reports, the epicenter of the earthquake is Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. Reportedly, the quake was centered around 28 miles south-southwest of Jarm, Afghanistan.
