Thailand has become one of the leading destinations for tourism. The main body that controls and co-ordinates the tourism industry in Thailand is the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). With the rapid flourishing of tourism in Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand has become a busy organization. Established on 18th March, 1960, the organization has grown with the growing tourism of the country. This was the first administrative body in Thailand that was related to tourism in the country. The main motto with which this body operates is to encourage people to visit Thailand.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand provides requisite information and data to the public regarding all the tourist attractions in Thailand. The organization does not only provide information, they try their level best to develop the tourist attraction sites. With the help of personnel related to tourism and travel, Thailand Tourism Board, makes developmental plans for enhancing tourism Thailand.
The first local office of Tourism Authority of Thailand was established in Chiang Mai in the year 1968. Since then, the organization has been able to spread its network to 22 local offices in Thailand. Overcoming the boundaries of the country, Tourism Authority of Thailand has established several offices overseas also. The first overseas office that was set by the organization was at New York in the year 1965. Apart from this office, there are 15 more offices of the organization spread over various parts of the world.
