The
Thailand politics is presently functioning under the structure of
Constitutional Monarchy. The prime minister is the head of the government and the monarch is the head of the state. The
Thailand politics vests the executive power in the hands of the military junta, which is appointed by the prime minister and his cabinet. The legislative power is exercised by the people oriented legislature. The judiciary is totally independent and the political activities are strictly banned.
Till the 13th century, Thailand was ruled by the kings. It was only in 1932 that it became a constitutional monarchy. The
politics in Thailand is now under the control of a military group which is trying desperately to ensure safety and security to the people. This military group calls itself Council for
National Security.
The
politics of Thailand is influenced by the functioning of some major and minor and historic political parties. Among the major parties there are Great People's Party, Thai Nation Party, Democratic Party. The minor ones are Mass Party, Citizens' Party, National Development Party, Social Action Party, New Aspiration Party. Among the Historic parties there are Communist Party of Thailand, Liberal Democratic Party, Thai Rak Thai Party. Thus we can say that there are various
political parties in Thailand and the people have enough choice to choose the best party according to their preferences.
