The Thai gulf has several diving resorts. The most popular tourist resort in the region is the island of Ko Samui in Surat Thani province.
The Thailand gulf is a shallow body of water. The maximum depth of the water is 80 meters. The mean depth of the Thai gulf is only 45 meters. The water is rich in sediments. The salinity of the gulf is also low. This is due to the inflow of fresh water from the rivers flowing into the sea. The Gulf of Thailand has considerable economic importance. The gulf contains oil and natural gas resources.
