Thailand Stock Exchange

Thailand is regarded as one of the 'tiger' economies in Asia. The Thailand Stock Exchange is the key indicator of the various factors and events affecting the economy of Thailand.
The principal Thailand Stock Exchange is the Stock Exchange of Thailand or SET. The Thailand Stock Exchange is situated at Bangkok. The stock exchange of Thailand cut its first trading session in July, 1962. A private group established the entity under the name of Bangkok Stock Exchange or BSE. The first trading of the modern Stock Exchange of Thailand commenced on April 30, 1975. At that time, the formal name of the exchange was 'The Securities Exchange of Thailand'. The name was finally changed to Stock Exchange of Thailand or SET on the first of January in 1991.

Another Thailand Stock Exchange is the Market for Alternative Investment or MAI. The Market for Alternative Investment has been formed under the Securities Exchange of Thailand Act. The objective of creating MAI is to provide a novel fund raising opportunity for new innovative businesses. The alternative investment exchange also provides a greater range of investment forums for the Thai investment community. The Market for Alternative Investment functions independently under a SET directorial board.
