Wedding events are always special and unique in every race and religion of the world. Thai wedding is nothing different from it. Thai wedding ceremony and rituals attached to it were very complex, but with changing times, they have been modified to make them simpler.
Since most of Thai people follow Buddhism, blessing from a Buddhist monk is sought in the morning of Thai wedding at either the bride's or the bridegroom's place. It is then followed by marriage registration. The main wedding custom in Thailand, called Rod-Nam-Sang is followed in the afternoon. Only very close relatives are invited to this event. Elders bless the couple for their coming life and wish them good luck. Both the bride and the groom are dressed in traditional Thai marriage dresses.
A reception party is thrown in the evening in honor of the newly-weds. Most of these functions are arranged with different styles of food and drinks. Families of both the bride and groom attend the guests. Dinner starts at about 7 pm in the evening. The Master of Ceremonies, who is a close friend or relative of either the bride or the groom summons both of them to the stage, where flowers are exchanged. The guest of honor of the occasion makes a short speech wishing the couple a happy life and a toast is raised to their name. The Thai wedding cake is cut. Dinner continues to around 10-11 pm.
