In the year 1988, the LTA Trust was formed in UK as a charity which would be responsible for community tennis , tennis schools, development and training of tennis coaches. This trust was later renamed as the British Tennis Foundation. Established in 2001, there were various City Tennis Clubs which aimed to provide better tennis facilities to ordinary people. Various tennis academies and high performance centers were also introduced all throughout UK to make tennis popular all over the country. A rapid program of modernization and a well-advanced executive team helped tennis to gain popularity in UK . UK has also planned to invest in Performance Tennis at all levels of tennis in the country. UK Tennis' headquarters have been planned to be shifted to the new National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, in south-west London. Britain's young tennis players are given abundant help and opportunities so that their potentials are realized and success achieved. Some of the tennis stars of UK who have made a mark in the international tennis circuit are Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Alex Bogdanovic, Richard Bloomfield, Joshua Goodall among male players and Anne Keothavong, Katie O'Brien, Melanie South, Amanda Keen and Sarah Borwell among the female players.
