Tennis Masters Cup is one of the major tournaments under the ATP or the Association of Tennis Professionals which involves the top eight players of the tennis world facing each other in the high profile year-ending tournament . Instead of being a knockout tournament , the tournament follows a group league format . The eight players are placed in two groups of four players each. After the group league games, the two best players from each group advance to the semifinals from where the knockout stage starts.
