Pro Tennis Tournaments are the tournaments held in the world of professional tennis players. Tennis has been played as a sport since a long time. It has emerged as a modern event during the mid nineteenth century. In the twentieth century, with the beginning of the Open era, the sport received the status of a professional sport. Some of these tournaments are included in the ATP and WTA Tour schedules. In all the pro tennis tournaments , winners are given certain amount of prize money along with the trophy. In the pro tennis tournaments included in the ATP or WTA Tour schedules, winners are given points on the basis of their performance in the event.
