Pilot Pen Tennis is one of the tennis tournaments played across the globe throughout the year. Pilot Pen Tennis is a part of both the Association of Tennis Professionals or ATP Tour and the Women's Tennis Association or WTA Tour.
Pilot Pen Tennis was held for the first time in 1990. The tournament, held at New Haven in Connecticut, includes both the men's and women's competitions. Till 1998, the Pilot Pen Tennis was known as the Volvo International. No competition for men was held between 1998 and 2004.

Pilot Pen Tennis is also associated with the United States Open Series. The tournament is played on outdoor hard courts with Deco Turf cushioned acrylic surface. Pilot Pen Tennis is generally staged just before the Grand Slam tournament, the U.S. Open. The event has been held regularly since 1990. The 2007 Pilot Pen Tennis is programmed between August 20 and August 26. Both men's and women's competitions are going to be held during the same period. Draw size for men's competition is 48, while 28 draws is the format to be followed during women's competition. For the doubles competitions in both categories, 16 draws format is going to be followed. Prize money decided for men's competition is $ 675,000, while for women it is fixed to be $ 600,000.

Pilot Pen Tennis is considered to be one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments played. Many famous tennis stars have played and won in the tournament. In 1990, men's singles competition was won by Derrick Rostagno. The winners of the doubles title on that occasion were Jeff Brown and Scott Melville. Nikolay Davydenko won the men's singles title at the 2006 Pilot Pen Tennis and Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram won the doubles title. On the occasion, women's singles competition was won by Justine Henin-Hardenne. Winners of women's doubles competition were Zi Yan and Jie Zheng. Other renowned players, who have won the tournament at various points of their careers, are James Blake, Karol Kucera, Alex O'Brien, Andre Agassi , Boris Becker , Andrei Medvedev and Stefan Edberg. Indian tennis players, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes have also won the doubles title in 1997 Pilot Pen Tennis. Steffi Graf , Venus Williams , Jennifer Capriati, Elena Bovina and Lindsay Davenport are some of the female tennis players, who have won at the Pilot Pen Tennis.
